BBC confirms new Strictly Come Dancing hosts
The BBC has announced Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and professional dancer Johannes Radebe as the new presenting team for Strictly Come Dancing, replacing long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who departed last year. This marks the first time the show will feature three permanent presenters, with the trio expected to share equal hosting duties, though specific roles have yet to be detailed. The new lineup was selected following an extensive audition process involving several prominent TV personalities. Emma Willis, a seasoned presenter and self-professed fan of the show, expressed excitement about joining the Strictly ballroom, while comedian Josh Widdicombe described himself as "giddy with excitement" and honored to take on the role. Johannes Radebe, who has been part of Strictly as a professional dancer for eight years, called the opportunity to present "beyond anything I ever imagined." Executive producer Sarah James praised the new team’s chemistry and individual strengths, highlighting Willis’s warmth, Widdicombe’s humor, and Radebe’s deep knowledge of the show. The selection process reportedly included well-known figures such as Zoe Ball and Rylan Clark, both of whom publicly acknowledged missing out on the role. Ball spoke about experiencing a range of emotions after being passed over, while Clark congratulated the new hosts and expressed gratitude for being considered. The BBC’s decision to introduce a trio of presenters reflects a shift in the show’s format and aims to bring fresh energy to the popular dance competition as it enters its next chapter.
