In a July 2 Facebook post, the bank said it had received reports of phishing e-mails that direct recipients to a fake Citibank Singapore website claiming that clients’ Citi Mobile Token or Digital Security Token was ready for activation. Citibank Singapore added that it was “actively working” to take down the phishing site. In its post, the bank advised its clients to always verify a website’s URL before entering any personal or banking information. They should also refrain from clicking on suspicious links or providing any personal information on unverified websites. Those who suspect they have fallen victim to a scam can contact Citibank via the Citi Mobile app or the CitiPhone hotline on 6225-5225, the bank added. The Straits Times has contacted Citibank for more information. Phishing scams were the second most common scam type in 2025, with a total of 6,264 scams reported. The public can report suspected scams through the ScamShield app or call the National Scam Hotline on 1799.
