Heist Comedy ‘Above the Line,’ Starring Sophia Ali and Cedric the Entertainer, Sets Release (Exclusive)
Quiver Distribution has secured North American rights to the dark heist comedy *Above the Line*, directed by Jeffrey Scott Collins. The film, which premiered at the Sun Valley Film Festival in December, stars Sophia Ali, Cedric the Entertainer, Gregg Henry, Reno Wilson, Jamie Lee, Dylan Playfair, Jackson Pace, and John Way. Following a limited theatrical release, the movie will be available digitally on June 26. The story follows six Hollywood hopefuls who plot to steal the best picture awards from a producer who wronged them, blending elements of crime noir and dark comedy reminiscent of films like *Swingers* and *Pulp Fiction*. Collins co-wrote the script with Jono Matt and also serves as a producer alongside Ian Michaels, Kemma Filby, and Walker Barnes. Cedric the Entertainer, who previously collaborated with Collins on *Poor Greg Drowning*, is an executive producer, joined by Matt, Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, Lan Kisner, and rapper Logic. The deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg for Quiver and Clay Epstein for the filmmakers. Collins describes the film as a reflection on the desperation and lengths people go to in pursuit of their dreams, emphasizing the human desire for significance and belonging within the cutthroat Hollywood environment. *Above the Line* represents a fresh addition to the indie film landscape, combining dark humor with a crime thriller narrative set against the backdrop of the entertainment industry. Its release through Quiver’s digital platform aims to reach audiences who appreciate genre-blending stories with a sharp, satirical edge. The film’s exploration of ambition and betrayal in Hollywood offers a timely commentary on the pressures faced by those striving for success in a competitive and often unforgiving industry.
