Here's what Apple's Siri overhaul for iOS 27 could look like

Apple is set to unveil a major overhaul of Siri with the upcoming iOS 27 update, aiming to place the AI assistant at the center of the iPhone experience. The redesign, expected to debut at WWDC 2026 and possibly launch as early as September, integrates Siri into the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, allowing users to summon the assistant via voice command, power button, or a new swipe-down gesture from the top center of the screen. This new interface combines traditional Siri Suggestions with expanded functionality, enabling users to launch apps, send messages, add calendar events, and search notes through a rich, interactive text card that can expand into a chatbot-style conversation. The update also introduces a dedicated Siri app designed to rival other AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude, supporting both voice and text interactions along with photo and document uploads. Users will be able to review past conversations, enhancing continuity and usability. Apple is reportedly exploring options to allow access to third-party AI services, including ChatGPT, Claude, and its own Gemini AI, through this interface. Due to Siri’s increased prominence, the Notification Center will be relocated to a swipe from the top left of the screen. In addition to interface changes, Siri’s capabilities will be more deeply integrated into the Camera and Photos apps. A new mode will replace Apple’s existing Visual Intelligence feature, enabling users to perform reverse image searches and utilize third-party AI for photo analysis. The Photos app will gain new AI-powered tools such as “Reframe” and “Extend,” which allow users to alter photo perspectives and generate visual content beyond the original frame. These enhancements reflect Apple’s broader push to embed advanced AI features across its ecosystem, leveraging its Gemini AI model to compete more directly with other AI platforms and improve user interaction with iOS devices.
