Prime Video drops full trailer for Spider-Noir
Prime Video has released the full trailer for its upcoming live-action series, Spider-Noir, debuting at CCXPMX26 in Mexico City. The trailer is available in two formats: a black-and-white version inspired by classic film noir aesthetics and a color version dubbed “True Hue.” Set in 1930s New York, the series follows Ben Reilly, a hard-boiled private investigator and secret superhero known as The Spider, portrayed by Nicolas Cage. The show reimagines the Marvel Comics noir universe, originally launched in 2009, which places familiar characters in a Great Depression-era setting. Spider-Noir diverges from traditional Spider-Man stories by focusing on Ben Reilly rather than Peter Parker, reflecting co-showrunner Oren Uziel’s preference for a more mature, noir-inspired protagonist. The series blends detective story elements with superhero action, described by executive producer Chris Miller as “70 percent Humphrey Bogart and 30 percent Bugs Bunny,” highlighting a mix of classic noir grit and clever humor. The narrative centers on Reilly grappling with his past and personal tragedy while navigating the dangers of 1930s New York as the city’s lone superhero. The supporting cast includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, a hopeful journalist and Reilly’s friend; Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, a nightclub singer and femme fatale; Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Reilly’s secretary; and Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, a mob boss targeted for assassination. Other notable cast members are Jack Huston, Abraham Popoola, Lukas Haas, Richard Robichaux, and Kai Caster. Spider-Noir is positioned as a standalone story rather than part of a larger interconnected Marvel series, aiming to offer a unique, self-contained narrative experience. Spider-Noir is set to premiere on May 25, 2026, on MGM+, with all episodes becoming available on Prime Video two days later. The series marks a distinctive entry in the Marvel franchise, combining noir sensibilities with superhero mythology and expanding the scope of Marvel’s storytelling into new stylistic territory.
