Holidaymakers should be aware of disruption to travel this week due to the NATO Summit which is being held in Ankara. There will be road closures and restrictions in place as well as stricter routines in airport security. The NATO Summit takes place in the capital today (Tuesday, July 7) and tomorrow (Wednesday, July 8). An alert from FCDO made travellers aware of disruption over the coming days. It said: "Due to the NATO Summit being held in Ankara on 7-8 July, there will be road closures and restrictions around key venues. Public transport routes will be affected." The statement added: "All commercial air travel to and from Ankara Esenboga Airport is prohibited from 0700-1500 Turkish time on 7 July, and from 1100-1800 Turkish time on 8 July. Airports will operate under enhanced security measures, likely resulting in longer processing times. Travellers are advised to arrive early, ensure documentation is ready, expect stricter screening procedures."
