Aurum pushes flagship Côte d’Ivoire gold resource beyond 3.2Moz
Aurum Resources has expanded its gold resource at the Boundiali project in Côte d’Ivoire by 6 percent to 3.22 million ounces, with indicated resources increasing 24 percent to 1.70 million ounces. This growth is primarily attributed to the BDT2 deposit, where inferred resources were upgraded to the indicated category following an aggressive infill drilling campaign. The company’s total gold resource inventory across its projects now stands at 4.38 million ounces, including 1.16 million ounces at the nearby Napié project. The Boundiali project has rapidly evolved from a greenfields discovery into a multi-million-ounce gold system within just over two years, supported by significant artisanal near-surface and open-pit mining activities that highlight strong gold anomalism along major structural trends. The latest resource estimate includes 54.5 million tonnes at 1 gram per tonne (g/t) gold for indicated resources and 52.9 million tonnes at 0.9 g/t gold for inferred resources. A higher-grade component within Boundiali totals 1.68 million ounces at 1.7 g/t gold using a 1 g/t cut-off. The recent update adds 190,000 ounces to the overall resource and 330,000 ounces to the indicated category, all from BDT2, while other deposits remain unchanged. Aurum remains well funded with $61 million in cash and continues its 100,000-metre drilling program at Boundiali, where mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth. The company plans to incorporate the increased indicated resources into its upcoming prefeasibility study, expected this quarter, which is evaluating a large-scale integrated open-pit mining operation. With multiple additional prospects at Boundiali still largely untested, Aurum’s expanding resource base and ongoing exploration efforts position the project for further growth and development.
